This course acquaints students with the history and development of Russian literature from Pushkin to Tolstoy. Brief lectures on Russian literary and cultural background will supplement class discussion, enabling students to enter the magical world of manipulation used by Russian authors to circumvent the powerful censors. Students achieve sophistication in literary techniques, as well as an awareness of the Russian experience. LIT EUR
